SMH Diamond Coat presents four major interior colour trends for 2023 and how to use them in your home.
Starting with reassuring Neutral colours that contrast times of uncertainty, moving through warmer yellows and bold blues, embracing vibrant blues and intense greens, we have created four collections. In these four universes, different hues blend harmoniously, building colourful landscapes that tell new alluring stories.

Interior research

Using extensive research based on case studies done in 2022, the work included a collection of projects in which the use of colour was particularly significant in outlining the new 2023 colour trends. To best analyse the world of Interior Design, the research was not limited to architectural designs, but was also based on web domains and search categories regarding “the home”, such as domestic items and furniture.
The collection of colour suggestions was organised considering two basic elements:

the texture of surfaces and their ability to evoke particular atmospheres similar to each other;
the selection of well-defined colours ensure a wide coverage of the hues within the circular presentation of the chromatic spectrum.

Bucolic Garden

The botanical garden is an intimate, calm and somewhat vintage world.
The colours of flowers, terracotta pots and fountains of these cool and restful oases are translated into a palette of earthy tones, where brick yellow dominates as an accent between sage greens and different shades of sky blues.

Fresh Purity

The purity and minimalism of surfaces become the dominant stylistic features in this world.
Ideal for urban and town interiors, this palette offers a colour range where blue tones dominate: from the more desaturated, almost black, tones to the vibrant light blue that instead recalls the air and its invigorating crispness.

Authentic Confidence

Highly tactile surfaces, the scent of wood and noble materials are the key features of these interiors.
Rooms with velvets and boiserie that are well matched by the robust colours of this palette: browns and burgundies, dense purples and warm, welcoming neutrals, with the contrast of two greens, one predominantly cold and the other warm, yet capable of engaging in a joint dialogue.

Quiet Beauty

Exterior views and grand, very regular architectural features interact in unison in this world, creating spaces dominated by light that moves dynamically over large, uninterrupted surfaces.
The colours become light, while maintaining a very strong textural character: vanilla and pale pinks alternate with earthy reds and blazed oranges, harmoniously connected by cool, restful blue-greens.
